Reduction of antibiotics use in farming practices in East Africa with a technology transfer and pilot project in Kenya

This international development cooperation project under the ICPE InBuCo programme, with financial support by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, introduces bacteriophage-based technologies as eco-friendly alternatives to antibiotics in Kenyan agriculture.

The goal is to reduce antimicrobial resistance (AMR), protect public health, and promote sustainable, inclusive farming practices aligned with Kenya’s national policies and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The pilot project is implemented in collaboration with technology implementers from Slovenia and local partner University of Nairobi and emphasizes knowledge transfer, empowerment of rural communities, and long-term impact through local capacity building.
