The ICPE delegation participating in the Bled Strategic Forum organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia in Bled (Slovenia) between 1-2 September 2014 held talks with Alejandro Negrín, Director General for Europe, SRE – Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States on 1 September 2014.ICPE Acting Director General Janez Podobnik presented the Mexican delegation ICPE’s main activities – long-term education program, short-term trainings, conferences, symposia and expert meetings. Furthermore the enhanced cooperation between ICPE and international organizations (particularly with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization – UNIDO, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development – UNCTAD and the OPEC Fund for International Development – OFID) was emphasized along with the possibility of collaboration between the two sides within the framework of projects jointly implemented by ICPE together with the above-mentioned organizations.
The main areas of cooperation between MEXICO and ICPE have been identified as being in the field of economic diplomacy, e-governance and energy efficiency as well as human resources development. The internationalization of Mexican economy has also made the focus of the discussion especially in so far as the increase of Mexican presence in Europe is concerned.
