ICPE delegation visit to Algeria

From 5 to 7 December 2024, an ICPE delegation participated in the 3rd Africa Startup Conference in Algiers. ICPE Advisor, Mr. Jure Tomc, contributed his insights as a speaker on the “Tech Entrepreneurship and the Startup Ecosystem” panel, offering perspectives on fostering innovation, accelerating startup growth, accessing EU grants and developing entrepreneurship across the African continent.

Beyond the conference proceedings, the ICPE representatives engaged in high-level meetings with key stakeholders. A notable exchange took place with the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro Enterprises, Dr Noureddine Ouadah relating to the technology transfer project on water management, that has been proposed to the Government of Algeria.

Additionally, constructive discussions were held with Director of Communication Mr Abderrazak Ghlis and his colleagues of the High Commission for Digitalization. The emphasis was on designing and implementing capacity-building programs that would support the digital transformation of the public sector. Such initiatives are expected to improve service delivery and cultivate a skilled workforce capable of navigating the rapidly evolving digital landscape. These interactions reflect the ICPE delegation’s commitment to advancing projects that yield practical, operationable outcomes.

The visit to the 3rd African Startup Conference in Algiers offered an immersive experience into the latest trends and developments shaping Africa’s entrepreneurial and technological landscape. By gaining a clearer understanding of market conditions, policy shifts, and evolving capacity-building needs, the ICPE is better positioned to tailor its future initiatives.
