Acting Director General of ICPE Mr. Janez Podobnik visited Vienna

On the 21^st and 22^nd of June 2012, ADG Mr. Janez Podobnik visited selected Embassies and International institutions in Vienna, accompanied by ICPE Special Adviser Ambassador Mr. Zvone Dragan and Mr. Nenad Stankovic, ICPE Representative in Vienna. Especially intensive and very successful was the visit to UNIDO where they met Mr. Dmitri I. Piskounov, Managing Director, Division for Programme Development and Technical Cooperation as well as Dr. Pradeep Monga, Director, Energy and Climate Change and his Team.

During the meetings in UNIDO Mr. Podobnik presented new ICPE Programmes, informed about ICPE efforts to refresh some activities and underlined the high level of importance, which ICPE is giving to the cooperation with UNIDO in different technical-economic fields, including energy efficiency, green technologies, climate change, different kind of trainings and human capacity buildings. After the effective and successful discussions Mr. Piskounov and Dr. Monga appreciated the meeting and proposed several ideas for possible cooperation, which have to be developed further. Dr. Monga welcomed proposals received from the ICPE side and expressed significant interest for cooperation with ICPE. He also asked his Team to give impact in creating concrete proposals for cooperation with ICPE in the fields of Industrial Energy Efficiency and Climate Change, Renewable and Rural Energy and Energy Policy and Global Forum Activities.

ADG of ICPE Mr. Podobnik also met Mr. Goran Svilanovic, Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities. They exchanged information about possible cooperation between ICPE and countries in which OSCE has already implemented projects and good business network.

During the very intensive program of visit, Mr. Podobnik and his advisers met H.E. Ms. Blanka Jamnisek, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Slovenia to the United Nations, OSCE and other international organizations in Vienna, H.E. Mr. Aliyar Lebbe Abdul Azeez, Ambassador of Sri Lanka (ICPE Member State) and following ambassadors: H.E. Mr. I Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja, Ambassador of Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Juan Carlos Marsan Aguilera, Ambassador of Cuba, H.E. Mr. Alejandro Diaz Y Perez Duarte, Ambassador of Mexico, H.E. Mr. Hyun Cho, Ambassador of Republic of Korea and Ms. Karim Milagros Durand Lazo, Deputy Ambassador of Peru.

The main subjects of the meetings were creating mutual programs and developing cooperation between ICPE and respected countries. During very fruitful and pragmatic discussions Mr. Podobnik underlined ICPE strong intention to implement activities in accordance with needs and requirements of the countries. Ambassadors appreciated received information and supported ICPE in efforts to establish closer cooperation with their responsible administrations.

In the very constructive discussion, Ambassador Blanka Jamnisek stressed UNIDO as one of the most important international organization for ICPE and presented several very interesting ideas for possible cooperation of ICPE and countries in the East Europe and Central Asian Region. It was agreed to continue dialogue and to intensify the information exchange between ICPE and mentioned embassies.
