The International Center for Promotion of Enterprises (ICPE) has facilitated a delegation of CAB International during its official visit to the Republic of Slovenia, dedicated to establishing formal engagement with key national authorities and research institutions.
The programme commenced with a joint meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food of the Republic of Slovenia, held together with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia. The meeting was attended by senior officials from both ministries and the Administration for Food Safety, Veterinary Sector and Plant Protection.
During the session, CABI presented its mandate, governance model, and global portfolio. Discussions focused on the potential membership of the Republic of Slovenia in CABI, including institutional considerations, and alignment with Slovenia’s international development cooperation and diplomacy priorities.
The visit continued with a working lunch hosted by ICPE, providing an opportunity to exchange views on CABI’s strategic engagement in Europe and possible avenues for cooperation with ICPE in project-based initiatives.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited the National Institute of Biology. The meeting opened with a welcome address by Dr Anže Županič, Director of NIB, followed by a discussion on potential scientific and technical cooperation and a visit to the laboratory facilities, including exchanges with researchers.
