On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, the International Center for Promotion of Enterprises (ICPE) organized an industry visit for a delegation from the Kenyan Embassy in Vienna, led by H.E. Ambassador Mr Maurice Makoloo. The delegation visited Jafral, a high-tech biotechnology company renowned for its cutting-edge research and development in bacteriophage technology.
Upon arrival, the delegation was greeted by Dr Frenk Smrekar, Chief Executive Officer of Jafral, who provided a comprehensive presentation on the company’s mission, ongoing projects, and future goals in the biotech sector. Following the presentation, the visitors were given the opportunity to explore Jafral’s laboratories, where they observed firsthand the innovative research being conducted on bacteriophages. During the visit, Jafral’s research team highlighted the potential of bacteriophage-based applications to address critical challenges in global healthcare and environmental sustainability.
The industry visit, facilitated by ICPE, served to strengthen ties between Slovenia and Kenya by showcasing advancements in Slovenian biotech research and exploring new avenues for partnership and knowledge exchange. The discussions reflected the parties’ shared enthusiasm for scientific innovation and international cooperation.
